Living life with open hands

The world is in a continuous state of circulation and flow. Everything is in constant motion. Whether it is the water cycle, breathing cycle, changes in seasons. Even the body has its circulation and flow. It happens even without our knowing that is the way the creator of the universe made it.

Getting married and being a new mom has taught me a lot about giving. Having to give of yourself to your spouse and kid is sometimes exhausting. Moms can agree with me that when you have a baby it’s all about them. It often feels like your needs and wants don’t exist. Some days I ask myself, does this ever end? Honestly, I don’t think it would because giving is a part of life.

When I get cranky, I remind myself that someone (parents, family, friends) had to give something and is still giving in one way or the other for me to be where I am and if at any point they got tired and stopped giving I would not be the person I am today. The world is all about giving and receiving, but it is often easier and more convenient to be on the receiving end because that requires little or no effort on our part. The truth is you are giving something every day, even though you are unaware of it. we stop giving the day we die.

Have you ever thought about how rain falls?

The sun gives off its heat, Then the ocean water rises into the air, and the clouds hold on to the droplets from the atmospheric vapor which when it becomes heavy enough, falls under gravity. The sun, ocean and the clouds all gave off something if they didn’t there would be no rain and without rain, there is no growth and life as we know it would not exist. As giving and receiving applies to the atmosphere, it also applies to every living thing.

it is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it.- Albert Einstein.

I believe that we must always be willing to give as much as we have received. This would create a balance in our lives and relationships. Most relationships end because of the imbalance between giving and receiving and anything without balance is bound to crash.

Practice giving

Don’t be a taker. Nobody wants to be around someone who always takes without giving something back in return. Practicing to give, doesn’t always have to do with money. Giving monetary gifts is important but there are other ways to give. They include:-

  1. a compliment

  2. a smile

  3. a hug

  4. Good advice

  5. Kindness

  6. Talents and gifts

  7. Love

  8. Time

And the list goes on…

Grab the initiative

You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people to get what they want”-Zig Ziglar So…
  1. Want to be encouraged, give encouragement.

  2. Want to be loved, give love.

  3. Want to be respected, give respect.

  4. Want attention, give attention.

  5. Want people to be nice to you, be nice to them.

  6. Want appreciation, give appreciation.

  7. Don’t want to be judged, don’t be quick to judge others.

  8. Want to reap the benefits of hard work, give hard work.

The law of giving and receiving is real and is based on the fact that everything in the universe operates through dynamic exchange. If there are areas in your life you find lacking, ask yourself if you have given into that area and make changes accordingly. Giving is life; In giving of ourselves, our time and talents we step into purpose and become who we were made to be.
